Electronics Engineer

Location: Upper Peninsula in Michigan

Job Type: Full-time

Job Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer for a dynamic role under the supervision of the Director of Engineering. In this position, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of products by analyzing, troubleshooting, modifying, and repairing electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems at various stages of the production process. Additionally, you will be responsible for the development of test apparatus and methods to validate functionality and design compliance with industry and customer specifications.

Primary Functions:
  1. Provide manufacturing reviews to Program Management and Business Development teams, ensuring process flow, capability, and adherence to customer documentation.
  2. Create panel designs, communicate, and approve working files with PCB providers.
  3. Offer feedback on Design for Manufacturability through the manufacturing review process, assisting in communicating issues and solutions to customers.
  4. Assist Program Management/Business Development in the selection of electronic components and potential alternatives through the quote, ECR, and BOM creation process.
  5. Provide customer design assistance, Gerber Modification, and Layout using in-house tools.
  6. Design assemblies from product specifications.

Essential Functions:
  1. Interact with other engineering groups to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for products, systems, components, or modifications.
  2. Document and analyze test cases, providing regular progress reports.
  3. Ensure testing procedures comply with industry-specific standards.
  4. Determine processes for testing products in manufacturing to ensure compliance with specifications.
  5. Test the functional performance of systems, subassemblies, and parts to identify and correct defects and malfunctions.
  6. Identify malfunctions and coordinate with engineering staff on continuous improvement methods for effective fixtures and procedures.

Responsibility for Quality:

The Electronics Engineer has the responsibility for quality as specified in the Quality Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance to ISO requirements, initiating actions to prevent non-conformities, identifying and recording problems, recommending solutions, verifying solution implementation, and controlling further processing of non-conforming products.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or Associate's degree in Engineering 
  • Concentration to keep track of several design elements and technical characteristics.
  • Initiative and drive to complete tasks quickly and efficiently.
  • Interpersonal skills to work well within a team environment.
  • Advanced math knowledge, including calculus, to design, analyze, and troubleshoot processes and equipment.
  • Strong speaking and writing skills to clearly communicate reasoning, designs, and instructions during development and production.
