Position: Design Engineer
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Summary:
As a Design Engineer, you'll work under the guidance of our Engineering Manager, contributing to the creation of new and specialized products. This role involves designing in accordance with engineering specifications, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring timely delivery to our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Production Drawings: Review and interpret customer specifications to create production drawings using SolidWorks 3D.
  • Buildable Models: Produce 3D models based on sales suggestions, effectively communicating customer needs to the manufacturing team.
  • DFM Support: Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) through Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
  • CAD Techniques: Utilize computer-aided design techniques for applicable design work, making necessary calculations to establish performance standards.
  • Design Data Preparation: Prepare sketches, drawings, and specifications for layout drawings.
  • Economic Designs: Analyze projects for manufacturing and material costs, developing economically viable designs.
  • Technical Resource: Act as a technical resource for product field support, addressing and resolving questions and problems.
  • Collaboration: Develop working relationships with fabrication, welding, and assembly departments to address and resolve problems for high-quality, cost-effective production.
  • Cross-Functional Teams: Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Other Duties: As assigned.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you must:
  • Possess leadership competencies to inspire and motivate others.
  • Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent (2 or 4-year degree preferred).
  • Have 1-3 years of engineering experience, preferably with sheet metal.
Skills:
  • Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents. Effective communication skills.
  • Mathematical: Strong mathematical skills for calculations and analysis.
  • Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
