Cost Accountant
Job Description
Position Title: Cost Accountant
Wage: Based on Experience
Our client, a well-established manufacturing company in Milwaukee, WI, is partnering with us to hire a Cost Accountant for a direct-hire, fully on-site role. This is an excellent opportunity to grow in your accounting career within a collaborative manufacturing environment. Reporting to the CFO, as a Cost Accountant, you’ll play a key role in supporting financial performance and operational efficiency by analyzing costs, monitoring variances, and partnering closely with operations.
Cost Accountant Responsibilities:
- Analyze operational costs and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Assist in preparation of budgets and monitor actual performance against budget
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities including journal entries and reconciliations
- Maintain the standard cost system and ensure accurate inventory valuation
- Identify and analyze variances between actual and standard costs
- Prepare detailed cost and financial reports to support management decision-making
- Assist in implementing and monitoring internal accounting controls
- Partner with production and operations teams to ensure accurate cost data
- Support the annual financial statement audit process
- Support special projects as needed
Requirements for Cost Accountant:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
- 1+ years of manufacturing cost accounting experience
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP in a manufacturing environment required
- Strong Excel skills and hands-on experience with an integrated ERP system required
- Detail-oriented, analytical mindset with strong communication skills needed
