Job Description
The Role:
As a Mechanical Designer at our client, you will play a crucial role in the development and enhancement of their innovative components and products. Your responsibilities will encompass creating and maintaining bills of materials, CAD models, product specifications, and manufacturing routings for both new and existing products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to address quality concerns, contribute to product customization, and drive continuous improvement efforts. Your work will directly impact the functionality, safety, and quality of our products, all while adhering to the highest standards of design and engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation and management of bills of materials, manufacturing routings, and product costs for new and existing products.
- Collaborate with Customer Service and Quality teams to troubleshoot product-related quality issues and address field concerns effectively.
- Support the design, development, and customization of components and products to meet specific customer requirements.
- Contribute to the enhancement of product functionality, safety, and quality while actively participating in cost reduction initiatives.
- Evaluate and process Change Requests, assessing the implications of required changes on products and processes.
- Interpret technical documents including safety guidelines, operational instructions, and produce graphical work instructions.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to optimize design and production processes.
- Associate's degree from a 2-year college or technical school, or equivalent education and experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with a focus on BOM development, shop floor drawings, manufacturing routings, and product costs.
- Proficient mechanical aptitude and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and 2D AutoCAD; experience with 3D modeling software preferred.
- Exceptional resourcefulness, organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, facilitating effective collaboration.
