Senior Accountant

Job Description
Contract: 6 – 12 Months
Position Summary: The Senior Accountant North America Acquisitions is a pivotal role reporting directly to the Acquisitions Controller and based in Milwaukee. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records on the legacy systems of specified acquisitions, ensuring timely and precise reporting into SAP/FCC. This role requires a strong understanding of US GAAP accounting, internal controls, transaction processing, IT infrastructure, and consolidation. The Senior Accountant will also play a key role in guiding local acquisition accounting staff throughout North America and facilitating the seamless transition of workloads to relevant areas of the company.
Senior Accountant Responsibilities:
- Maintain comprehensive and systematic financial transactions in the legacy systems of specified acquisitions
- Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of acquisition results in SAP/FCC on a monthly basis
- Participate in balance sheet reviews and approve submissions
- Provide guidance to maintain a proper internal control environment
- Offer transaction support, encompassing project accounting, revenue recognition, expense report processing, payables, and receivables for related businesses
- Drive the adoption of processes, including thresholds of accruals, prepaids, and PP&E
- Automate, simplify, and standardize submission processes, ensuring robust documentation of the processes is developed and maintained
- Assist in the transfer of workload to the company and integration into standard processes
- Assist in documenting legacy processes and those transitioning to systems
Basic Qualifications for Senior Accountant:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S required
- Willingness and ability to travel 10-20%
Preferred Qualifications for Senior Accountant:
- 5+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance
- CPA and/or public accounting firm experience with exposure to global industrial companies
- In-depth understanding of US GAAP, accounting transactions, internal controls, balance sheet and income statement preparation, revenue recognition, account reconciliation, intercompany transactions, and journal entries
- Ability to quickly develop a working knowledge of multiple systems, including exposure to acquisition ERP systems, SAP, Concur, Onbase, and other IT systems
- Effective networking skills and ability to collaborate with multiple business and finance functions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and competing priorities
- Analytical with the capability to clearly summarize and communicate results
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels and functions of the organization
- Impeccable sense of integrity and business ethics
- Willingness to challenge the status quo to enhance productivity, processes, and procedures
- Supportive of change management
- Successful at transferring skills and knowledge
